Attention: All merchants who previously accepted IMPAC, American Express or Wright Express cards from U.S. Government cardholders

Beginning November 30, 1998, new cards were issued to existing purchase, travel and fleet cardholders. Instead of a single provider for each type of card, several providers now issue cards to our cardholders. The following changes became effective on November 30, 1998.

To Merchants who accept the Purchase card:

  • Cards may be either a VISA or a MasterCard. Visa cards will begin with either 4486 or 4716. MasterCard cards will begin with 5568.
  • Cards may be issued by US Bank, Citibank, Bank of America (formerly NationsBank), Mellon Bank or Bank One (formerly First National Bank of Chicago).
  • Cards will have two different background designs.

To Merchants who accept the Travel card:

  • Cards may be either a VISA or a MasterCard. Visa cards will begin with 4486. MasterCard cards will begin with 5568.
  • Cards may be issued by US Bank, Citibank, Bank of America (formerly NationsBank), Bank One (formerly First National Bank of Chicago).
  • Cards may have two different background designs.

To Merchants who accept the Fleet card:

  • Cards may be either Voyager or MasterCard. Voyager cards will begin with 8699. MasterCard cards will begin with 5568.
  • Cards may be issued by US Bank, Citibank, Bank of America (formerly NationsBank), and Bank One (formerly First National Bank of Chicago).
  • Cards may have two different background designs.

Let your customers know you accept the GSA SmartPay card

GSA has developed a logo to identify the GSA SmartPay program. By using this logo, cardholders will know you accept the card.
